Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluations
Initial Evaluation
Before we begin your treatment, you will have an initial evaluation, which will last around 60 minutes. During this visit, we will discuss your physical, emotional, and mental health history, current symptoms, psychosocial struggles, and future goals. Together we will create a collaborative and holistic treatment plan that may involve individual and/or group therapy, nutrition, supplements, exercise, medication management, and establishing your support network.
Follow-up Visits
We closely monitor our patients in the beginning to make timely adjustments to their new treatment plan. Initially, visits occur every two to three weeks for the first couple of weeks, and then monthly. Follow-ups are generally about 30 minutes long for medication management and integrative approaches, but they can be extended to 45 minutes if therapy is needed.
Integrative Medicine
Conventional Treatments, Nutrition, and Complementary Therapies
After conducting a thorough evaluation, which may include reviewing your recent laboratory results, we will discuss our recommendations for helping you achieve your mental health goals. We understand that psychotropic medication may not always be the best option for everyone, which is why we offer our patients complementary therapies that may include supplements, nutritional support, meditation, and lifestyle changes.
Your treatment plan will be tailored to your needs, and we will ensure that our recommendations are culturally sensitive. At Talitha Koum Psychiatry, the team prioritizes understanding patients' backgrounds, cultures, and preferences, as evidence shows it leads to better patient outcomes.
Group Therapy
Peer Group Therapy
We offer peer groups sessions for High Schoolers, College students, and Young Professionals. Navigating adulthood can be a daunting task, especially when you lack the necessary support and guidance. However, you can make this journey easier by connecting with others who are experiencing and overcoming similar challenges. Group therapy can be a healing and motivating experience, and it can also provide you with new ideas, strategies, and hope. You may even find that some members of the group become your lifelong support network!
Research has shown that group therapy can be more effective in treating mental health symptoms than individual therapy sessions or taking medication. These groups typically last for ten weeks, with one hour per week. If you're interested in joining, please don't hesitate to call or email us for more information. Please keep in mind that these groups tend to fill up very quickly!
